Healthy oceans start on the shoreline
Each tide brings a wave of plastic pollution to our shores. It’s easy to feel helpless, but together, we can make a difference. That’s why Project Planet Earth hosts regular beach cleans along Dorset coastlines, helping to protect marine life and keep our beaches looking beautiful.
With every beach clean, we roll up our sleeves and take action, removing litter, sorting it, and recycling what we can. Some of the plastic we collect is given a second life; turned into coasters, swim paddles, plastic rings, and keyrings, instead of polluting our seas.
Regular beach cleans are essential because not everything we find can be recycled. Items like fishing crates, old nets, crabbing lines, and buoys quickly break down into harmful microplastics if left on the shore. Removing them in time helps prevent long-term damage to marine life and the wider ecosystem.
Why we clean
Plastic is everywhere. From the deepest ocean trench to inside over 100 marine species, 170 trillion particles float at sea.
Where we clean
We prioritise plastic hotspots, beaches and coves where pollution collects most. Got a spot in mind?
How it works
We provide litter pickers, bags, and a glass recycling bin. Just bring yourselves and a sturdy pair of shoes.
